Wait, What???

Wait, What???                                                                             Monday, June 23, 2014

Bueno! Casi no tiempo para escribir. Jeje   (almost no time to write!)

We had to go to Bancoppel (kind of like Target) and exchange shoes for Hermana Bobadilla and after that we might have had a little too much fun shopping for skirts and shirts.
Good times :D

Aaaaannd..that's why I have no time to write, pero no se preocupe! (But don’t worry!)

Let's see. This week. I don't remember anything. It went by too fast!!

Tuesday we taught una senora and her son. We actually contacted her son, Jose Antonio, in the street and he told us we should teach his family. So we taught her a couple times. The second time was really good, and she said she would like to attend church. Wait, what? Awesome! And then 2 days later, she tells us that her husband doesn't want her to. Nooooo! Agh! So we have to stop by when her husband is there.

Wednesday We taught a young woman named Rosario. Her abuela,(grandmother) Martha, has been inactive in the church for a few years. Anyway, the first time we taught Rosario was with Martha (the week before), and we read the first chapter of the Book of Mormon, and Rosario seemed interested. She asked us about the trinity, and so of course we told her and we got an appointment to go back. Well. This lesson was rather interesting. We were planning on teaching L1, and we diverted to commandments and what is sin. She didn't pay all that much attention, And at the end, her friends randomly showed up and we barely got in a closing prayer. Pero! We have a family to contact now (from her friends). But, we'll see if Rosario progresses. La verdad, I doubt she will right now, but her abuela, Martha is progressing :)

Thursday was rather interesting. We taught a previous investigator named Antonio. He lives with his spouse...actually, they're not married. But they have a daughter and a son on the way. And the lesson with Antonio was good. He wants to keep progressing, but his wife, Lorena doesn't really want to listen. But the problem is, we're not sure if she's willing to get married. We shall see where this goes.

Friday, the bus ride was rather boring. Attached is a picture :D  We got to the mission office and they took us to immigration place and took my fingerprints and my signature. I should be legal, now. :D

We also taught some less-actives, Alma and Santiago. A very nice couple that always shares their food. And they have a dog named Rex, who reminds me a bit of Dixie. Anyway! Santiago doesn't come to church because of work. But Hermana Alma came this week to church! And Santiago should come next week.

Saturday we taught someone named Alfredo. He's probably 45ish and is in a wheelchair and why we don't know. But the missionaries apparently taught him before. But it was a rather odd lesson. He wouldn’t say very much. And also we had Hermano Moran with us - a member in the ward - and he taught random things. True and important, but maybe not what Alfredo needed to hear. He even invited him to be baptized! Alfredo said, "poco a poco." But the problem with him is that we need help getting him to church. It's sort of a necessity to be baptized. Sometimes it would nice to have car :3

Oh! and it RAINED Saturday night!! I think you have no idea how good it felt to stand out in the rain!!

Sunday!! We brought Jose Luis, Alexia and America again, but their Dad had to work. Also we stopped by for Hermana Martha, and you know who came? Rosario, her little brother Victor and two more cousins. We pretty much brought the primary to church :D

But something really awesome happened in Sunday school. A woman named Sirina (I think) had said a prayer that morning that she could find the church of God. And she was walking in the street when one of the Hermanas in our ward invited her to church. So Sirina went back to her house, got her things and came to church! And in gospel doctrine class she asked what was required to be baptized. We told her at least 5 weeks to attend and get to know the church. During Sunday school we asked her if she would be baptized on the 26 of July. And she accepted!!! Milagros :) (Miracles!) Hay personas que estan listas y buscando para la verdad! Ella no vive en nuestro Barrio, pero no importa. Ella encontró la verdad!! (There are people who are ready and looking for the truth! She does not live in our neighborhood, but no matter. She found the truth.)   And another person is following Jesus Christ :)

So that's a summary of the week. Mas o menos. (More or less)

This will be interesting. We have a ward mission activity on friday! And apparently it was my turn to choose the activity! Hahaha dn guess what I chose. Un minuto para ganar!! A minute to win it. And you know. I can't remember any of the games!!! Actually it's coming along, alright, but really. Who's idea was that!? Pray for me for that, okay? hahahaha

Anyway!! uh...que mas...ya no se. Pero! Life's awesome. Really, I learned this week how important it is to stay focused!! ha I get so distracted sometimes!! But then I have to remember the here and now and that I'm in awesome MEXCIO!! Serving these amazing people.

Have a good week everybody :) Love you and gracias por todos. *ahem* I still love letters.

Love your favorite person ever,
Hermana Daniels

Take it as it comes!

Dear Family,                                                                                                   June 16, 2014

WELL!! Happy Father's day to all!!!....Yesterday. Dad, Jason, Jared, Alan, Brian, Rick, Jon, and others whom I don't have to time to write your names, but you're still special :)

I have to ask for forgiveness, because I haven't done so well on birthdays. I think I missed some in May, and there's a LOT In June! So...Happy birthday :) Okay, maybe you don't get anything, but just remember it's from Mexico, so it's way more special.

Now! I actually don't have a ton of time to write becaaaauuuuse. I got to spend 5 hours of my P-day on a bus! I had to go to Culiacan for immigration stuff, but guess what. Some miscommunication or I don't know what, but I get to go back Friday! Yay! It wasn't so bad, except that we didn't get to do laundry...which...is really not so good. Probably tomorrow.

I'm just gonna do the main highlights of this week –

I don't remember if I already told you, but we were teaching Jose Luis and his sister, Alexia, but we could never find their dad at home. And finally we found him and we've been teaching him all week. And He's been receiving the lessons really well. They have an odd situation, with his wife, and other children in another house. Buuut, we're working through that. Jose Luis, the Dad, is catholic and I think he's afraid to change because of his family - especially his mom, who helps a lot around the house while he's at work. ANYway!!

We had a "noche de hogar" (family home evening) with him and his kids with another family - Familia Salgado Romero. They are/were menos activos. Irving, their son, is 9 years old and ready for baptism.

Anyway, it went really well. All about Alma 32. :)

Moving on, Irving's baptism was on Saturday!! It went really well. It was stressful a bit, because we didn't have the clothes until the morning of. And we had to clean the pila(baptismal font) and set up and print programs and whoooo! fun. But it was good.

Next morning, Sunday. Excited to see Irving be confirmed and hopefully Jose Luis is able to come. Well. We got to his house at 10:45. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the church from there, and church starts at 11:00. We get there and they had no intentions of going!! What!?!?! But we told them they needed to come, so while they all got ready, we went up the road to pick up another young woman to come with us as well. Well, she wasn't ready either, so we told them we'd be back to pick her up in 10 minutes.

So, we went back to the house of Jose Luis(fam. Solis Ochoa) and...hahahah we didn't leave until 11:40ish. So, we missed the sacrament, the confirmation of Irving and we smelled like Smoke because they were cooking something and smoke was coming out the door where we were standing :D
BUT!! The whole family came, and the young woman, named Rosario Isabel. And they stayed the whole block!

Then, after that we had to go back to the house for progress information because we have our ward missionary meeting that night, so we didn't get to our dinner appointment until 3:30, which is supposed to be at 2:00. And then we had Cochinita Bibil for lunch. And it might have been the best thing ever.

And the Hermana that fed us really is amazing. She's a convert of...I don't how long. But she's 25 and planning for a mission next year :) And we taught her Dad who isn't a member which was good. Really, I hope he progresses.

Anyway. This week was rather interesting...but, then again, when is it not? Gosh, I have so much to learn. I'm always going to have so much to learn, but the last few weeks, actually have let me know just how much I need step it up. Okay, I guess I always knew I needed to improve a lot, but now, I just want to know everything now. And you know what? hahahahah That's now how the system works. I have to humble myself, but at the same time trust in myself, in my calling, in my companion, and especially in the spirit and the Savior. Easy, peasy, right? Like Ammon and his brethren,(it's Ammon, right?) Lots of fasting, prayer and of course studying and studying and studying the scriptures.

This week. It  is going to be awesome. I don't know why yet. I'll let you know next Monday.
I love you all and thanks for everything! Have a marvelous week!

Love your favorite, not-so-Mexican, missionary,

P.S. It was really good to get pictures :) muchas gracias. And gracias for the update on everybody. and the recipe. I tried to make them (crepes) the other night...it was okay...I just needed another egg :D Sadly we don't have an oven so I don't think I'll ever get Puffed-oven-pancakes.

Hya!!!

Hya!                                                                                                                June 9, 2014

Okay, here's how it is. Last week really wasn't that good. Because we’re both new to the area we don't know where anybody lives. But we looked up a LOT of Less actives, previous investigators, and current investigators. And you know what?? Nobody was ever home!!!! AGH!!! That's so frustrating, by the way.

But there are some good things. 1- Irving is on track to get baptized this weekend! He's 9 years old and his parents are inactive, BUT they came to church the last two weeks!! I think Irving's baptism and everything will help them come back to church. They are a really good family.

We've been teaching Jose Luis and Alexia, friends of Irving, at the same time when we teach Irving. They also want to get baptized, but since we've been here we haven't been able to find their Dad at home until last night!! And we taught him a short lesson and he accepted what we taught and we're praying that the whole family will get baptized.

With Jose Luis, Alexia and Irving, it was really pretty awesome to teach them the first vision. When we pulled out the picture they were all so interested. And when we committed them to praying to see if Joseph Smith is a prophet they all agreed. And they all did; and, of course, they all received the answer that he is. A feeling of "suave." :D

And Saturday and Sunday we had stake conference and President Velez, my mission president, came and talked at both sessions. It was really good. I might have missed a few points, but it was still good!! And we had entrevistas after(interviews) and aside from reminding to contact and teach with authority and boldness - both which I needed to hear, he told me that if the owner of our apartment didn't want to put an air conditioner in, we could find a house with air conditioning. That's...really comforting actually. But, back to authority and boldness. After the interview, Hermana Bobadilla and I went to find a reference in Conchi, named Alberto. We never found him, but we met a lot of other people instead!! Conchi is an awesome place to make contacts, because it's all apartments and edifices, and we never know where anything is and so we ask someone random, "Disculpe (excuse me), do you know where #207 is? Oh over there? Thanks! We'd like to introduce ourselves! We're missionaries....etc.

And when we finally found the address we were looking for, it actually wasn't Alberto. It was a young family!!!!! WHOOT!! And we taught them a lesson about the plan of salvation and it was amazing.

So this week will be good :) We have a lot of work to do.

Sorry this letter doesn't have as much as I want to say, BUT we went to the aquarium today, sooo...no mucho tiempo. It was pretty cool, though. They had a fun seal show.

Gracias!! Tenga una buena semana!!
