Flores Magon

Flores Magon‏  (Sarah's new district in Mazatlan)                                               June 2, 2014

I would just like to start off by telling you all to go repent of your ungratefulness for air-conditioning. Remember last week how we got transferred that day?  Well. Our house was a MESS!! We pretty much spent the first 3 days cleaning.

Like...here it goes...There was an electric wire wrapped around the shower head, for some reason. Because, that's really safe?!?!?  And it actually isn't a shower head. It's a pipe sticking out of the wall :D  BUT! Our district leader gave us one today, so we can put that in.
We couldn't flush the toilet because the valves leaked and stuff.
The faucet in the bathroom leaked a lot.
The faucet in the kitchen leaked even more, so every time we wanted to use it we had to twist the valves below.
The refrigerator was a mess!!! And there was mouse poop all over. Although, thankfully, we haven't seen any mice. Just cockroaches :) So cute. I love cockroaches.
The area book and other things were not organized very well.
There were weeds in the back where we hang up our clothes to dry. And for a second I thought I would "get" to weed! But, that's what elders are for :D
And really, the whole place was pretty dirty altogether. BUT!! We have a really nice district and ward members that came over and helped us with everything. And the bishopric helped us with the plumbing.
Pero...we still don't have air conditioning. Just fans, which I'm grateful for.

Pero, we do have lots and lots of suvidas. Hills. Lots :) And basically, I'm a water fountain!! I have lived on a farm for the past 12ish years? Lots and lots of work outside, and I don't think I've ever sweat so much in those 12 years combined, than I have in this last week. Hahaha it's kinda hot here. BUT! At the top of the hills is a really beautiful view of Mazatlan and the sea. And it's a lot hotter in Culiacan, so really I'll just be quiet now about the heat.

This is a view from the top of a hill that I climbed and almost died!

Okay...really it was a good week. A bit stressful because we didn't know where anything was or who any of the members were! And almost every person we talked to said, "Hermanas? What about the Elders?" Or something to that effect. Because there have never been sister missionaries in this area, apparently - that's why the house was so bad... :D

But we did get an investigator the first day! Monday night we taught someone named Julian. We had a really good lesson and he accepted baptism the first day. But, sadly, we taught him at a friend’s house - someone in this ward, but he lives in another ward, so the other missionaries need to teach him. We'll see how that goes....

We have another investigator - Irving, 9 years old. His parents are less active, but he has been receiving the lessons and wants to be baptized. And when we teach him, his friends are usually there too, and so his friend, Jose Luis is now an investigator too! And his little sister, Alexia. I love little kids :) And some stare at me all the time because I look different :D  But that's irrelevant.

Irving, Jose Luis, Alexia AND Irving's parents came to church yesterday!! I really, really hope they keep progressing. They're a really good family.

And the other day we met the family De Haro. The Mom, Antonia, is amazing. She had so many good questions. When people have questions, we can help them :)

AAaaaannnd...that's all I have to say, I think.

Everybody, keep working hard, and Endure to the end, okay? I get really sad when I see how active people were in the church (bishops, relief society presidents, etc.) and then become less active. Don't forget how hard Satan is working on you. Pero, we have a stronger power :) The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the way!
(I know that's really preachy, pero, esta bien.

Love you all, and Gracias!
-Hermana Daniels

Here's a picture of me carrying the water.  Well, it's self-explanatory, but that's how we buy our water. And really, it's only...maybe 35-45lbs, but my companions were so surprised that I could carry it!! It was hilarious! I tried to tell them about how I carried pipes all the time, but I don't know that they ever understood. :D

This is me with Hermana Serrrano, the Relief Society Pres. in Juarez. I felt really tall, hugging her. And she's awesome. I will miss her.

The is me and Hermana Escaño. She makes really good food and knows a little English and I love her to death. And she makes fried bananas...which...I'd rather not eat.
