Good news and bad news

Dear People,                                                                              September 15, 2014

Good news and bad news - which do you want first? Bad news? okay, esta bien :)

Bad News: this week was pretty tough, especially Sunday. We taught quite a few lessons with members present. And we taught quite a few less actives, who said they would come to church Sunday! Great, right? One thing about the mission is that all results of our work during the week show on Sunday. Because if an investigator doesn't come to church, they don't progress. And if the less-actives don't come to church...well...hahah obviously they continue they way they were.
And so...we have 6 amazing investigators! And none of them came to church!!!! UGH!! And only 1 less active came to church. That was actually a Miracle, though.

Let me tell you about this "menos activo" named Jonathan. My companion and i  were looking for a street and we asked him if he knew where it was. He said no, but asked if we were looking for his brother. Uh...no...but...why do you ask? He told us his brother's a member and that he also was a member, but not anymore. And us:"Used to be member?" and he said "okay, still a member, but I don't go to church anymore." Anyway, turns out that his family are less actives and he took us to his house to meet his Mom. Long story short, they invited us back for dinner the next week. So we went to eat on Tuesday and to share a short message. Before we ate, we had a really serious conversation going on about the importance of church and attending. And Prayer and Faith, and blessings. We talked really directly and boldly to him because this guy has a hard head! And he almost didn't say the prayer. But we weren't gonna eat unless he prayed. After about 5 minutes, he finally prayed! Anway, Sunday comes around and he comes to church!!!!!!!! Whhhaaaaaat? We could not believe it!! And he said the opening prayer during Gospel Principles(even though he was the only one) but without "buts." He was the Best part about Sunday.

It was difficult last night not to be dismayed, because we really thought we were going to have a good Sunday!  But also, something interesting is that the Bishop, nor the ward mission leader couldn't accompany this week. His wife fell hurt her leg and now is in a wheelchair fo a little while. Hm...correlation between Bishop not helping, and lower church attendance? I think yes! The first week when the Bishop helped us the attendance went up! Really it makes a difference!  Anyway, the lesson is that we should always ask for the help of our leaders.

Good news! : We found a new house to live in!!! It's completely new. Nobody's lived there before and they're still finished up the house. They're going to put in the tile floor, kitchen sink and an air conditioner!!! Yay!!!! Supposedly doesn't flood...hahah  And it's across the street of a part-member family!! And they were really excited that we got the house.  And it’s cheaper. Everybody's happy :)

Sorry, this letter is a bit depressing. But really, the work doesn't stop. There's always gonna be hard times. It's time to put in practice what I always promise investigators: We have to have faith during the hard times and trust in Heavenly Father and he'll get us through. And really I testify of that. Always read your scriptures and pray with all of your heart! Always helps :)

Have a great week! I love you all!!
