Hey Ya'll!! (Hermana Heywood is
rubbing off on me)
I'm just gonna start the week out
with Monday, because it was pretty much the best experience ever – Background
story: We challenged Leidy and Jesus to be baptized in May, but they didn't
accept it...Anyway…We had a FHE with a family that's investigating the gospel,
and with the bishop's family. They didn't know each other, so just think of
that as we started...so awkward...haha thank goodness for get to know you
games! Anyway, we shared a video about the Book of Mormon, And in the end we
challenged them to read it and pray about it. The husband, Jesus, said he would
and he really wants to know if it's true. Leidy, the wife, said she doesn't
understand how she should feel when she prays about it, and she was
nervous...but after explaining, asking her again, she told us she had been
thinking about the baptismal date we had set, and she said she felt so calm and
sure that she should do it...
Wait...what?...That's it!! That's
exactly how you should feel!! Funny, that sometimes people get answers, but
they really don't recognize it, simply because they've never had the
opportunity...
So, Leidy is now preparing for
baptism that day, and her husband is supporting her :)
We take a lot of buses to get to
places here, And I realized something this week...sometimes we let a lot of
chances go by, when we could be talking to somebody! And...I'm not gonna lie, I
still get nervous before talking to someone. Still! But I realized that when we
start talking, I really do enjoy it. I enjoy getting to know people, and I
realize that every single person is SO different. Every person has their
difficulties and their strengths. Everybody needs this message, and maybe
they're not ready for it RIGHT now, but I know God is happy when we try to
strengthen other people, no matter who they are.
So...that's
my invitation to everybody...don't be afraid to make a new friend...even if
it's for 5 minutes...A positive, encouraging conversation can go a long way
:) Dad has always been a huge example of that - getting to know people
and everything.
Funny experience:
We got the water bill for 5,000
Pesos!!! That's a lot, by the way. It's like...$400 dollars or something...I
kind of thought it was a joke, but what do ya know!? Nope. And the house owner
is looking into it.
Oh, and tomorrow, I'll have 1 year
in Mexico...that's pretty crazy.
Everybody have an amazing week, and
always make new friends :D Good luck at
baseball!!
